About

The NU Working Papers in Linguistics is an annual publication that celebrates the finest work that undergraduate students are doing in linguistics. Outstanding papers are nominated by the faculty, then vetted by blind review, resulting in the selection of around three or four papers for inclusion each year. Prof. Rob Painter, the current editor of the Working Papers, organizes and administers all areas of the papers, including the process of soliciting papers, blind review, and shepherding student authors through the process of revising their papers for publication.

The Working Papers is the brainchild of Prof. Shiti Malhotra, who proposed the creation of the series in 2016 and led its editorial efforts in its first years. Submissions, nominated by the faculty, undergo a rigorous selection process involving blind review and revision, and entries must demonstrate a clear contribution to furthering our understanding of the phenomenon of human language.
